The Church of Sveta Bogorodica (Mother of God) in the village of Donja Kamenica is located 15km to the south-east of Knjazevac. It was built on the elevated left bank of the Trgoviski Timok River in the 14th century. Its founder remains unknown.

The conservation and restoration has been undertaken by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Nis.

The picturesque frescoes, which were painted by two artists, are mostly preserved. More compositions painted in the frescoes in this church represent works of extraordinary artistic value. The most attractive are the compositions depicting the founder of the church and his family, the figure of Mother of God from the Annunciation, as well as the unique stylish figures of the two cavaliers embracing each other, holy warriors, Theodor Tiron and Theodor Stratilat, which is to be found to the south of the entrance.

The archaeological excavations conducted by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Nis and the Homeland Museum of Knjazevac, which have followed the conservationist work, have confirmed the existence of a necropolis near the church (14th – 17th century).
